Valentine's Rose

Challenge:

In search of a valentines day present, I decided to get creative and make an animated 3D model for use as an iPhone lock screen.

Solution:

I created this 3D modeled rose in a glass case using Maya. I then used Maya to animate a camera, moving around and zooming in on the rose. After rendering out the sequence I used Premiere Pro to convert it into an mp4 and finally converted to a LivePhoto for use as a lock screen on an iPhone.

Time Spent ~15 hours

Penguin Model

In my love for winter I decided one day to create a penguin model for future games I create later on down the line in Unity. I modeled this penguin in Maya, textured and then brought it all into Unity and set up a scene using the terrain tool.
Project development ~4 hours.

Game Project

Working in Maya and Unity I modeled, applied UVs, and textured two modular buildings, a set piece and, two props. The scene features 18 modular pieces, a wooden crate and, a flag built from scratch.
Project development ~40 hours.

This whole scene was all textured in just three UV sets: Building 1, Building 2 and, Set Piece & Props.

Modular Project

Working in Maya and Unity I modeled, applied UVs, and textured a modular firehouse using a variety of tools. The scene features 26 modular pieces and a fire hydrant built from scratch.
Project development ~20 hours.

Sci-Fi Room

Working in Maya I modeled, applied UVs, and textured a Sci-Fi room using a variety of tools. The room features over 50,000 faces built from scratch.
Project development ~30 hours.

Using Arnold Mesh Lights I was able to create a monitor screen with a glow relative to the screensaver on the monitor itself. Building the chair I added a tremendous amount of detail for 3D rotation in different scenes.

ChessBoard

Working in Maya I modeled, applied UVs, and textured a Chessboard and Table. Each chess piece was created individually using curves.

To create the lamp I used multiple curves and lofts in order to get a uniform shape throughout the model. I applied rust and dirt in Substance painter to achieve a more worn look on the lamp.

Props

To create a variety of props I used multiple techniques including: lattices, glass presets, sculpting, lofting, NURBS privatives, and point lighting.

Barrel

To create a barrel I used a lattice to bulge out the boards, vertices to give the boards variation, and alphas to apply scratches and blood stains to the texture.
